Christian Mentoring

I am working on setting up a Christian mentoring program for girls in middle school up until high school through my church. Does anyone have a good tips, ideas, books, websites, etc to help aid these young girls into womanhood. Do you know what I found? A friend passed on to my daughter, “The American Girl Library – The Care and Keeping of You – The Body Book for Girls”. She loves this book. It’s nicely illustrated to grab her attention and contains so much information: grooming, acne, braces, breast growth, sizing bras, body types, nutrition, exercise, eating disorders, periods, supplies, emotions, proper rest, talking with parents, attitudes, friends – all of these in a very healthy way. They do not cover spirituality, or specifically Christianity, but we found that a study of Ruth, Esther and letter to the churches by Paul have been paramount in the spiritual growth process. In your setting stress the importance (within your group nad extend as appropriate) of walking together, beside each other through the awkwardness of this growth. All will behave in some way that they regret later, so judgment now isn’t OK, forgiveness without being asked is important, compassion for the struggle, prayer for growth in your group is so important. There are probably parents who can share from their past embarrassing moments and such that might help. Prayer, prayer, prayer

TasteHeavenNow. Net Part 2 continues with how to use the Heart-training tool in order to teach your heart so you find freedom to receive and abide in the presence of God, 24 hours-a-day, 7 days a week. This video shows how heart-training “prepares the way of the Lord. ” –If you want to get more of these videos, click the “subscribe” button above the video– –And, please leave a comment or ask a question below— This video series shows how to train your heart to believe and love the goodness and the grace of God for being able to receive, and abide in His presence, instead of “abiding” in what you are getting from earthly sources, sin, and from your own human glory. The heart-training ebook is available on my website. I have to charge for it currently but as support comes in, I hope to give it away for free. Thanks for understanding. This Christian Mentoring Series is based on the Bible, and is taught by Barry Hall of TasteHeavenNow. Net and Taste Heaven Ministries

Christian Discipleship

I have an essay due for my christian class and I have no idea what my teacher is talking about whenever she explains things its very hard to understand. I have to discuss the idea of this so please help . Do you know what I found? These are what you would call *qualities*/nature of Christian discipleship: >Faithfulness and love (the strongest) >Loyalty >Trust >Open to change >Desire to learn >Thinking with spirit (rather than the flesh) >Endurance >Tolerance Plus many other things (but you get the gist). Read up about the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John).

Ministry Resources

Needing sermons for youth. Things they need to know. Also what to do to make effective youth meetings. I was happy to learn… You really should study and come up with your own sermons for the youth. Take a course if you need to, but its important to relate the bible to where they are right now. Some helpful URLs are (all are www. ): youthpastor. Com youthministry. Com pastor2youth. Com thesourcefym. Com youth-ministry. Info Also see what resources your denomination has available. I’m Southern Baptist and Lifeway has a lot of helps (if you’re not SBC you can still use Lifeway) How you structure the meetings depends on what time you are looking at. If you have an hour and 1/2 then do an activity either as part of the lesson/sermon or as a warm up (it need not be related to anything spiritual if a warm up). Have fun with that. It is usually a good idea to put any contemporary praise music. If you don’t play guitar or keyboard or something, find out if a youth member does, and if one does play well, it might be a good idea to let them do it anyway. This can allow a youth member to begin to step into a leadership role which is important in spiritual development. Try to make the youth meeting more interactive, but don’t be afraid to get in depth in Scripture. Part of the youth ministry is to transition children into the adult membership of the church. In order to see what they need to know from a topical standpoint, get involved with their schools and especially with the youth parents. Then you can find out what is going on in their lives (note, sex and drugs (even if just alcohol) will ALWAYS be an issue for youth, but it is by no means the only issue, don’t focus too much on one thing). It’s always a good idea to go through a book of the bible in order. It keeps things varied and you get into passages that are new for many in the group.
